Green Day's Troubled Times lyrics

Green Day's Troubled Times song lyrics.
Green Day's Troubled Times lyrics

A song from the Rev Rad / Revolution Radio album by Green Day.

Troubled Times was inspired by the Paris terrorist attach on the concert goers at the Eagles of Death Metal show.

Trouble Times is exactly about what it seems to be. Billie-Joe is making a commentary on the current state of America and the world at large  - it's politics, religions and it's powers and how they are appear to be falling so many people.

This is actually part of the theme of the album from which the song comes - Bang Bang in particular serves notices that Green Day is sick of the media endowed celebrity status given to those who commit mass murder using guns.

This should be no surprised to anyone as Green Day's American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown albums have covered these concepts a fair but - 21 Guns being an obvious consideration of the use of guns and war.

Troubled Times lyrics

What good is love and peace on earth?
When it's exclusive?
Where's the truth in the written word?
If no one reads it
A new day dawning
Comes without warning
So don't blink twice

We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times

What part of history we learned
When it's repeated
Some things will never overcome
If we don't seek it
The world stops turning
Paradise burning
So don't think twice

We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times

We run for cover
Like a skyscraper's falling down
Then I wander like a troubled mind

What good is love and peace on earth?
When it's exclusive
Where's the truth in the written word?
If no one reads it
A new day dawning
Comes without warning
So don't look twice

We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times
We live in troubled times

Green Day 'Too Dumb to die' lyrics

'Too dumb to die' lyrics Green Day
Green Day 'Too dumb to die' lyrics

'Too dumb to die' is a song from Green Day's Revolution Radio album. The song's lyrics are demonstrative of the kind of ethic, that if you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough.

But it's more than that.

You could argue that it's a 'masses against the classes' type mentality but what really songwriter Billie-Joe is saying is that while there's a lot of shit going on in this world (see the lyrics of Bang Bang for his current views), there's a certain kind of population that just won't quit, even though they possibly should.

The song's title, of course, a play on the expression, too young too die. In the sense of Tre was a good bastard, he was too young to die.

Maybe.

'Too dumb to die' Lyrics

Oh, oh I love you
Oh, oh I do
I got a sentimental illness for you
Please don't go away, oh yeah

I was a high school atom bomb
Going off on the weekends
Smoking dope and mowing lawns
And I hated all the new trends

Me and my friends sang
Woh-uh-oh-oh-oh
It's true, the middle of the road
At least it's better than here

Looking for a cause
Well all I got was Santa Claus
I'm hanging on a dream that's too dumb to die
I feel like a cello
Lost somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high, too scared to dream
But too dumb to die

My daddy always was on strike
Going off with the teamsters
He said that everything will be alright
Not every Sunday can be Easter

The picket line screamed woh-uh-oh-oh-oh
Don't cross, don't cross the line
Because you'll be a scab, not a martyr

Looking for a cause
Well all I got was camouflage
I'm hanging on a dream that's too dumb to die
I feel like a cello
Lost somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high, too scared to dream
But too dumb to

Looking for a cause
Well all I got was camouflage
I'm hanging on a dream that's too dumb to die
I feel like a cello
Lost somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high, too scared to dream

But too dumb to die

Youngblood lyrics by Green Day

Green Day's Youngblood lyrics.

Youngblood lyrics by Green Day from Radio Revolution

Not to be confused with the John Rambo film, First Blood! Young Blood is a song from Green Day's 12th studio album, Radio Revolution.

Young Blood was self produced by Green Day after they decided to take a break from their long time producer and friend, Rob Cavallo.

Youngbloods are usually referred to as up and comers with drive and determination, a trait often found in young people. If you want to get cryptic, this song called perhaps be a reference to Fall Out Boy as their fans have been known to be referred to as youngbloods.

Billie Joe has spoken of wanting to claim back what pop punks means from bands such as Fall Out Boy. We could of course be reading way too much into the song's meaning!

Youngblood lyrics:

Getting drunk, and fallen in the hedges
She's my weakness, fucking genius
Swear to god and I'm not even superstitious

Youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
She's my little youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
Punch-drunken youngblood

I want to hold you like a gun
We'll shoot the moon into the sun
Alright, alright

Are you stranded, like I'm stranded?
Do you want to watch the world fall to pieces?
Are you broken, like I'm broken?
Are you restless? She said: "Fuck you, I'm from Oakland!"

Youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
She's my little youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
Youngblood
Punch-drunken youngblood

Still Breathing lyrics by Green Day

Still Breathing lyrics by Green Day

This song is a track from Green Day's studio album Radio Revolutions. It was the the third song to be released from the album.

The set of songs from the album is considered a return to form from Green Day following their 'buy the numbers' of a sort trilogy of albums, Uno, Dos and Tre.

Green Day's Still Breathing lyrics from Radio Revoltion
Still Breathing suggests a sense of survival - the character has been through it all, they've survived the challlenges life has thrown their way, and here they are, still breathing.

Still Breathing lyrics

I'm like a child looking off in the horizon
I'm like an ambulance turning on the sirens
Oh, I'm still alive
I'm like a soldier coming home for the first time
I dodge a bullet, I walk across a landmine
Oh, I'm still alive
Am I bleeding
Am I bleeding from the storm?
Just shine a light into the wreckage
So far away away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away
My way to you
I'm like a junkie tying off for the last time
I'm like a loser that's betting on his last dime
Oh, I'm still alive
I'm like a son that was raised without a father
I'm like a mother barely keeping it together
Oh, I'm still alive
Am I bleeding
Am I bleeding from the storm?
Just shine a light into the wreckage
So far away away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away away
As I walk down ledge
Are you scared to death to live
I've been running all my life
Just to find a home that's for the restless
The truth that's in the message
Making my way away away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away
Cause I'm still breathing
Cause I'm still breathing on my own
My head's above the rain and roses
Making my way away
My way to you

Bouncing Off the Wall lyrics by Green Day

Bouncing Off the Wall lyrics by Green Day

Bouncing Off the Wall lyrics by Green Day

When someone is described as bouncing of the walls, it's often used an expression to convey that that person appears to be exhibiting nervous excitement or agitation.

Oft borne from a sense of restlessness and an itching just to get out side and get on with it - hence bouncing off the walls.

Green Day's song captures this feeling.

It's from the Radio Revolution album.

Lyrics

We destroyed suburbia
When we were outlaws
Concrete dream - hey
I'm gonna make a scene: radio
Covered in gasoline, sleeping in reverse
And everybody's bouncing off the walls

Bombs away - hey
It's just another day
An idle threat
The secret of the day
I wouldn't sweat it
And everybody's bouncing off the walls

I'm bouncing off the walls!
Alright!

Concrete kiss - hey
Come on and do the twist: radio
My little exorcist, we're all getting pissed
And everybody's bouncing off the walls

'Cause it's all that I want
And I want to be free
I got Satan right here next to me
'Cause we're all bloody freaks
And we'll give you the creeps
Chasing fireflies and zeroes

'Cause it's all that I want
And I want to be free
I got Satan right here next to me
'Cause we're all bloody freaks
And we'll give you the creeps
Chasing fireflies and zeroes

Outlaws lyrics by Green Day

Outlaws lyrics by Green Day

Taken from the Green Day Radio Revolution album.

We're outlaws of forever

Scars, broken hearts
Breaking in cars
Running in the light of the moon
Lost souls
Bottle rockets
All that we wanted
It's for our life beyond stars

Outlaws, when we were forever young
When we were outlaws
We're outlaws of redemption, baby
Hooligans
We destroyed suburbia
When we were outlaws
We're outlaws of forever, baby

I've got no supervision
Nothing will change my spirit
Race around
I'll plead my innocence
I'll plead my innocence
But that's my best defense
When you are young

Outlaws, when we were forever young
When we were outlaws
We're outlaws of redemption, baby
Hooligans
We destroyed suburbia
When we were outlaws
We're outlaws of forever

I found a knife by the railroad track
You took a train and you can't go back

Forever now, forever now you'll roam

Say Goodbye song lyrics by Green Day

Say Goodbye song lyrics by Green Day

Say Goodbye song lyrics by Green Day

A song from Green Day's 9th Studio album, Radio Revolution.

Lyrics

Say goodbye to the ones that we love
Say goodbye to the ones we love
Say goodbye to the ones that we love
Goodbye to the ones that we love

Say goodbye to the ones that we love
Say goodbye to the ones we love
Say goodbye to the ones that we love
Say goodbye to the ones that we love

Violence on the rise
Like a bullet in the sky
Oh Lord have mercy on my soul
Kindred Spirits sing
For the sick and suffering
The city of damage control
This is how we

(Roll... Roll...)

Say hello to the cops on patrol
Say hello to the cops on patrol
Say hello to the cops on patrol
Say hello to the ones in control

Teach our children well
From the bottom of the well
Oh Lord have mercy on my soul
Hear the children sing
For the sick and suffering
The city of damage control
This is how we

(Roll... Roll... Roll...)

Violence on the rise
Like a bullet in the sky
Oh Lord have mercy on my soul
Kindred Spirits sing
For the sick and suffering
The city of damage control
This is how we

Say your prayer for the ones that we love
Say your prayer for the ones who we love
Say your prayer for the ones that we love
Say goodbye to the ones that we love

(This is how we)

Say your prayer for the ones that we love
Say your prayer for the ones who we love
Say your prayer for the ones that we love
Say goodbye to the ones that we love

(This is how we)

Somewhere Now lyrics by Green Day

Somewhere Now lyrics by Green Day

Somewhere Now lyrics by Green Day

The opening track from Green Day's 12th studio album. Self produced by the band, Revolution Radio featured the lead single Bang Bang.

Somewhere Now was the second song Billie-Joe wrote during the recording sessions.

Somewhere Now lyrics:

I put the riot in patriot
And we all die in threes

I got a scene in the middle of the road
I'm gonna take my time
I shop online so I can bolt
At the speed of life
I'm like a drum way up in the sky
I'm the shooting star
There's a soldier that's freaking out
P.S. This is war

All grown up and medicated
On my own cellular waves
I put the riot in patriot
And we all die in threes

All we want is money and guns
A new catastrophe
Here goes nothing
There's nothing to lose
It's a small price we pay
When we all die in threes

Somewhere now
Somewhere now
Somewhere now

Somewhere now
Somewhere now
Somewhere now

Hallelujah, I found my soul
Under the sofa pillows
Congratulations, I found myself
Somewhere now
Somewhere now
Somewhere now

'Ordinary World' song lyrics by Green Day

'Ordinary World' song lyrics by Green Day

'Ordinary World' song lyrics by Green Day

A track from the movie Geezer Ordinary World movie, reworked somewhat for the Revolution Radio album. The film stars Billie Joe Armstrong.

To be clear, it is not Green Day doing a cover version of the popular Duran Duran song of the same name.

Green Day's Ordinary WorldIt's the final track off the album and it's slow tempo acoustic guitar song.

It has a kind of the feeling of a Bob Dylan folk song or perhaps some Springsteen is lurking but there is not mistaking it as a nice Green Day ballad.

I'm sure many people will compare it to the popular acoustic song, Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance) from the Nimrod album.

Ordinary World lyrics

Where can I find the city of shining light
In an ordinary world?
How can I leave a buried treasure behind
In an ordinary world?

The days into years roll by
It's where that I live until I die
Ordinary world

What would you wish if you saw a shooting star
In an ordinary world?

I've walked to the end of the earth and afar
In an ordinary world

Baby, I don't have much
But what we have is more than enough

Ordinary world

Where can I find the city of shining light?
In an ordinary world
How can I leave a buried treasure behind?
In an ordinary world

Baby, I don't have much
But what we have is more than enough
Ordinary world

Revolution Radio song lyrics by Green Day

Green Day Revolution Radio lyrics

Revolution Radio song lyrics by Green Day

Revolution Radio is the song from the album of the same name by Green Day..

The inspiration of the song and meaning of it came to Billie Joe Armstrong when he was driving into Manhattan when he came across a large group of protesters.

They were outraged by a Missouri grand jury’s decision not to indict a police officer for the killing of young black man Michael Brown so they filled the streets and backed up traffic for miles.

Armstrong was inspired this protest action.

"I got out of my car and marched with the people," he says. "It was a trip to see people rebel against the old order."

And that kind of sentiment is classic Green Day so he tapped into it for the song.

Revolution Radio song lyrics

[Verse 1]
Stay with your hands up in the sky, like you want to testify
For the life that's been deleted, sing like a rebel's lullaby
Under the stars and stripes, for the lost souls that were cheated
We will be seen but not be heard

[Chorus]
We are, revolution radio
Operation no control
In the headline, my love's bullet proof
Give me cherry bombs and gasoline
Carry guitars and treachery
In the headline, we call lies the truth

[Verse 2]
Give me rage like there's tear gas in the crowd
Do you want 'em allowed, but the air is barely breathing
Lies, all the slums to the obsolete
The dawn of the new airwaves for the anti-social media

[Chorus]
We are, revolution radio
Operation no control
In the headline, my love's bullet proof
Give me cherry bombs and gasoline
Carry guitars and treachery
In the headline, we call lies the truth

[Bridge]
We will be seen but not be heard
We are the songs of the destroyed

[Chorus]
We are, revolution radio
Operation no control
In the headline, my love's bullet proof
Give me cherry bombs and gasoline
Carry guitars and treachery
In the headline, we call lies the truth

Revolution Radio album lyrics and track listing by Green Day

revolution radio song lyrics by Green Day

Green Day's new album is called Revolution Radio.

Revolution Radio as the album name was strongly hinted by the band when they released the single covert art for their new single Bang Bang. It was written in there in small letters and also as Rev Rad!

Given this set list also featured the words Rev Rad, we also expect that the album will have a song of the same name. It does!

The album name was confirmed by a fan who looked into the source code on the official Green Day website and found this:

lyrics to revolution radio

This makes sense as the moment they announce the name formally, people will want to order the album and so they need to be ready to take those orders.

We imagine that the album will informally be called Rev Rad.

Given the name, the album’s lyrics are likely to be political given the name – and also Tre told everyone to kill their television. Looks like Green Day will once again be appealing to the anti-establishment crowd. Indeed, the lyrics of Bang Bang are a commentary on the use of guns for murder of innocent people and the hype the media puts into such events.

Here's the track list for 'Rev Rad', Green Day's follow up studio album from Tre.

Radio Revolution / Rev Rad lyrics:

1. "Somewhere Now"
2. "Bang Bang"
3. "Revolution Radio"
4. "Say Goodbye"
5. "Outlaws"
6. "Bouncing Off the Wall"
7. "Still Breathing"
8. "Youngblood"
9. "Too Dumb to Die"
10. "Troubled Times"
11. "Forever Now"
12. "Ordinary World"

Billie Joe posted this on Instagram - what does it mean?

green day rev rad

Billie and the boys seemed to be in good moods as they rehearsed together as a band. He posted this set list or run through sheet on his Instagram feed. Looks like they have been practicing some classic Green Day songs -

She from Dookie and Walking Contradiction from Insomniac so maybe something special is on the way. Is that a new song named in the list, Rev Rad? It could be a shortened name. Who knows!

What we do know is that Green Day have announced Bang Bang, so we are all hanging out for that song to be released.

Update - yes, Rev Rad turned out to be short hand for Revolution Radio, the new album name.
